Overview In this role, you develop comprehensive project specifications and support project teams in coordination and execution of construction documents. You ensure technical accuracy, alignment with design intent, and compliance with codes and standards. You collaborate with the firm's specifications team to enhance Master Specifications, integrate with digital project delivery, and guide material selection for sustainability goals. You'll work across offices to sustain quality and client service while facilitating efficient procurement and construction documentation.
Responsibilities- Write and edit project specifications per requirements, codes, and standards
- Translate design and delivery requirements into detailed materials, methods, and testing needs
- Understand project structure and bid package organization to align scope
- Prepare procurement and contracting requirements, including Division 01 General Requirements
- Review sustainability goals and advise on material selection for LEED or other certifications
- Support project teams with product research, RFI handling, and quality management during design and construction
- Collaborate with the firmwide specifications team for consistency and best practices
- Maintain relationships with vendors and connect project teams with product reps
- Contribute to Master Specifications content and regional/sustainable content
- Support integration of specifications into digital project delivery tools and QMS initiatives
- Promote sustainable practices and client service culture
- Assist with internal specifications training and standardization
- Engage with other offices to share workload and expertise
- Manage multiple projects with differing delivery methods and deadlines
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of architectural practice with at least 3 years of direct specification writing
- Experience with complex, large-scale, or multi-phase projects preferred
- Sports, Recreation, and Entertainment projects experience a plus
- Licensed Architect preferred; NCARB certification desirable
- LEED Accreditation or LEED Green Associate preferred
- CSI CDT or higher certification preferred
