Overview As Construction Health & Safety Lead, you drive safety strategy across major Irish infrastructure projects. You will act as the primary advisor to project leadership, embedding safe systems of work and proactive risk management. You'll lead audits, investigations and continuous improvement while aligning with design and construction stages. This role sits within Ramboll's Project & Programme Management team, contributing to sustainable infrastructure delivery and a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities- Lead development and implementation of project-wide health and safety strategies, plans and procedures
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, regulations and project-specific requirements
- Act as the key H&S advisor to project teams, providing expert guidance
- Monitor contractor H&S performance via audits, inspections and reporting
- Review and approve risk assessments, method statements and construction phase plans
- Promote a strong safety culture and behavioural safety across project activities
- Identify, assess and mitigate H&S risks throughout design and construction phases
- Support integration of H&S into design (design risk management / CDM principles)
- Lead incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are implemented
- Coordinate with regulators, stakeholders and third parties on H&S matters
- Ensure reporting, governance and assurance of H&S performance
- Drive continuous improvement and adoption of best practice in H&S management
Key requirements- Significant experience in construction H&S roles on major infrastructure or construction projects (metro, aviation, rail, water and highways)
- Strong knowledge of H&S legislation and regulatory requirements (Ireland or comparable)
- Proven ability to lead H&S across complex, multi-disciplinary environments
- Experience working with contractors to manage and improve H&S performance on site
- Strong understanding of construction processes, risks and safe systems of work
- Experience in audits, inspections and incident investigations
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels to drive safety outcomes
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with a proactive, collaborative approach
- Experience supporting design-stage H&S risk management
- Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Membership of IOSH or equivalent
