Overview

In this role you lead overall project management for assigned jobs, focusing on delivering on time and on budget while maintaining safety and profitability. You will bridge business development, estimating, procurement, and field operations to drive successful project outcomes. You work closely with owners, engineers, inspectors, and internal teams to manage contracts, change orders, and cost reporting. The position blends office planning with on-site oversight, requiring clear communication and strategic coordination. This opportunity lets you shape project execution, optimize resources, and contribute to Bettis Companies' growth and safety culture.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver projects on budget and schedule with quality and profitability
  • Develop bid strategy, proposals, and manage new estimate schedules
  • Manage contracts, change orders, and project documentation
  • Coordinate communications with customers, owners, engineers, architects, and inspectors
  • Procure and manage subcontracts and material orders
  • Oversee pay estimates and ensure timely payments
  • Collaborate with operations and field teams to meet budgets and schedules
  • Lead customer meetings and manage expectations
  • Oversee submittals, approvals, and monthly cost reporting
  • Review timecards, invoices, and cost codes weekly
  • Evaluate project documents, terms, specs, and final costs vs estimates
  • Participate in pre/post-construction and close-out meetings
  • Coordinate with accounting on job accounting
  • Prepare estimates and bids, review bid documents and requirements
  • Perform takeoffs and obtain material quotes
  • Apply accurate field crew sizing, production, equipment, and material rates
  • Set up new jobs for cost and accounting transfer
  • Update leadership on key events, risks, and completed actions
  • Read engineering plans and understand Bettis capabilities
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety laws
  • Build relationships with coworkers and promote technology and innovation
  • Assist with onboarding, safety training, and policy interpretation
  • Coordinate field notes, report logs, and timely submissions
  • Represent the company on job sites and with stakeholders
  • Assist with supervision, planning, and scheduling of subcontractors
  • Travel to job sites and train field operations
  • Support HR and EHS in improving onboarding and retention
  • Work extended hours as needed and maintain reliability
  • Adhere to driving rules, safety, and professional conduct
Key requirements
  • 3 years of construction experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or 7-10 years of field experience as substitute
  • Knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid and HeavyJob or ability to learn
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Leadership and project management capabilities
  • Solid understanding of cost reporting, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Experience leading a project team and maintaining external relationships
  • English literacy and ability to pass pre-employment checks
  • Safety-minded with ability to follow policies and report hazards
