Overview

In this role you will lead aviation design-focused capital improvement programs at a major airport. You will oversee design, procurement, approvals, and delivery, guiding multidisciplinary teams to meet safety, quality, and schedule targets. You'll coordinate with airport operators and regulators to ensure compliant, on-time program execution. This position offers impact across planning, design management, and construction, with a focus on ORAT and stakeholder alignment. Responsibilities
  • Provide project management, technical oversight and leadership across all phases of aviation projects, including design for capital improvements, from business case through approvals and delivery
  • Guide discipline managers and contractors to address program challenges, risk, schedule, and budget performance
  • Ensure design and construction activities meet CEQAJNEPA/Entitlement requirements and coordinate with LAWA divisions and regulatory agencies
  • Assist in developing work packages, task orders, and input on projects from design development through construction
  • Develop project-level processes, controls, and governance aligned with project goals
  • Manage planning, engineering, pre-construction/construction, bidding strategy, schedules, cost estimating, and commissioning
  • Facilitate coordination with stakeholders, operating divisions, airlines, and regulatory bodies
  • Oversee program and project schedules, including integration of multiple schedules and use of earned value management
  • Prepare and present progress updates to stakeholders and delivery partners
  • Utilize electronic tools (Primavera P6, PMIS) and coordinate phasing plans, utility shutdowns, and contingency planning
Key requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of preconstruction or design PM experience on large-scale airport projects
  • Experience managing capital projects/programs >$10M
  • Knowledge of airport operations and airport facility design/construction
  • Experience overseeing multiple concurrent construction activities within complex capital programs
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management (or equivalent experience)
