Overview

As a Claims Litigation Manager - Section II, you steer moderately complex property-related litigation, shaping defense or settlement strategies in line with state laws. You collaborate with defense counsel to secure timely, favorable resolutions while delivering concierge-level member service. You'll oversee litigation processes, budgets, and documentation, and represent USAA in mediations and trials. This role blends litigation mastery with risk-aware, service-driven guidance to members and partners.

Responsibilities
  • Manage moderately complex Section II liability and property-related litigation
  • Develop and communicate litigation strategy; oversee budgets, investigations, evaluations, negotiations, settlements, and trial decisions
  • Represent USAA at mediations, case conferences, and trials
  • Coordinate with law firm vendors and ensure compliance with Defense Counsel Litigation Handling Requirements
  • Communicate with members, internal partners, outside counsel, and management; maintain high service standards
  • Review and approve legal fees and expenses; monitor risk and compliance controls
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and outcomes
  • Serve as an informal resource for team members and mentor others when needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years related experience as substitute
  • 4 years of experience handling liability and first-party claims or litigation
  • 2 years of customer contact experience
  • Claims adjuster license in assigned state or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • Negotiation and customer service skills
  • Excellent communication and liaison abilities with partners, members, and management
  • Knowledge of P&C policies and state laws; regulatory compliance in claims litigation
  • Experience handling large losses property or commercial
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
