Overview

As Veo's Associate Controller, you will lead the accounting function, overseeing close processes, technical accounting, and internal controls in a fast-growing environment. You will partner with the CFO and cross-functional leaders to strengthen financial reporting and scalable processes. This role blends deep technical accounting with hands-on leadership to support growth and audit readiness. You will help shape the company's financial infrastructure and drive operational excellence, with a strong emphasis on GAAP compliance and process improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes ensuring timely, GAAP-compliant reporting
  • Oversee monthly financial statements, reporting packages, reconciliations, and analyses with FP&A support
  • Research and implement complex accounting guidance (equity, leases, software capitalization, foreign operations)
  • Design and improve accounting policies, internal controls, and audit readiness
  • Lead system improvements, automation, and process optimization for scalability
  • Act as primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory reporting
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Legal, HR, IT, and leadership to strengthen financial discipline
  • Lead and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
Key requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership in a high-growth environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research
  • Experience leading accounting organizations, audits, and scalable finance systems implementations
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite) and finance tools (Stampli, Brex, Ramp, Cube, Jirav, Fathom)
  • Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills
  • Strategic thinking with ability to build scalable processes and strong internal controls
  • Excellent executive communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Startup/venture-backed experience preferred
  • Hybrid work eligibility from Santa Monica with minimum three days in office
