Overview

In this role you will lead and support environmental permitting and wetland biology projects across the Pacific Northwest, guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver regulatory-compliant studies and permits. You'll work with clients, agencies, and internal specialists to drive complex environmental tasks from field surveys to NEPA/ESA documentation. The position offers leadership, mentoring, and opportunities to shape infrastructure projects with significant environmental impact. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to assemble regulatory compliant environmental studies, reports, and permits across local, state, and federal levels
  • Lead fieldwork efforts (aquatic resource, habitat, and vegetation surveys) in WA and support projects in other PNW states
  • Assist with preparing environmental documents for Endangered Species Act compliance
  • Provide familiarity with NEPA processes and related environmental resources reports
  • Support proposal preparation, client maintenance, and business development activities
  • Prepare scopes of work and estimate level of effort for tasks
  • Serve as project manager and/or task lead on permitting projects
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
  • Mentor junior staff and support team development
  • Travel as needed to client facilities and for fieldwork
  • Foster collaboration and team-building within the consulting environment
Key requirements
  • BS or MS in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science or related field
  • 15+ years of environmental consulting or agency experience with aquatic resource delineations, ESA compliance, fish surveys and permitting
  • Knowledge of WA state and federal permitting programs (Clean Water Act, USACE 404/401)
  • Ability to lead aquatic resource surveys with knowledge of PNW vegetation, soils, wetlands, and streams
  • Experience with handheld GPS equipment and software
  • Experience preparing for and participating in stakeholder meetings
  • Project management or environmental task lead experience
  • Team-oriented with mentoring and client/regulatory relationship skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and travel to client sites
