Sr Director & Actuary - Annuity Product Development

Overview

In this role you drive risk product development across life, annuities, disability income, and long term care lines, shaping strategies and coordinating with multiple departments. You will refine existing products, explore new features, and push innovative approaches to expand market share. You'll gather field and client insights to co-create offerings and ensure timely, within-budget delivery. This position blends strategic leadership with hands on execution to advance the company's risk product portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute product development strategies for risk product lines across multiple insurance domains
  • Support the product line leader in strategizing to grow sales and achieve healthy financial results
  • Evaluate and enhance risk products, creating new offerings and features to stay competitive
  • Design solutions for adjacent markets and disruptive approaches in the financial security space
  • Liaise with field and home office teams to gather input and maintain co-creation throughout development
  • Represent risk product lines in cross departmental teams focused on compliance, servicing, marketing, and sales strategies
  • Analyze competitors to identify differentiation and make recommendations on new product features
  • Ensure projects meet schedule, scope, and budget
  • Assist field and staff with product questions
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and at least ten years in insurance product development, competitive research, product compensation, or related risk product areas
  • Actuary background required
  • Proven strategic thinking and ability to lead decision making through consensus
  • Strong project leadership experience and alignment of goals with company strategy
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present clearly to diverse audiences
  • Series 6 & 26 required or to be completed within six months
