Overview

In this role you will manage federal construction projects across Michels' multiple lines, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet strict federal requirements. You will maintain relationships with federal partners (USACE, NAVFAC) and ensure successful, compliant project execution on large-scale sites. The position emphasizes strong communication, stakeholder management, and adherence to contracts over a broad portfolio. Your work supports safety, quality, and timely delivery on high-impact infrastructure programs.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary interface with federal agencies and owners
  • Coordinate with construction, engineering, safety, quality, and operations teams for seamless project execution
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with USACE, NAVFAC, and other federal partners
  • Facilitate project kickoffs, progress meetings, and stakeholder communications
  • Support development and management of schedules, submittals, documentation, and reporting required by federal contracts
  • Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS and agency-specific standards
  • Assist with procurement coordination and subcontractor engagement (not P&L ownership)
  • Participate in proposal development and project planning as needed
  • Support issue resolution, risk identification, and resource coordination
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience on federal projects (heavy civil, energy, utilities)
  • Experience with USACE and/or NAVFAC
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS and federal contracting processes
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel to project sites
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Primavera P6 experience preferred
