Overview As Project Architect, you will lead design development from concept through construction, ensuring design excellence and fiscal responsibility. You'll work within Stantec's Buildings team to translate client needs into informed, buildable solutions, collaborating across disciplines to deliver high-quality documentation and responsive project management. Your role focuses on guiding projects through regulatory and codes compliance, BIM-based modeling, and detailed coordination with consultants and contractors. Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and direct project work across its lifecycle
- Develop design ideas using sketches, models, diagrams, and massing studies
- Create 3D models with BIM technology for project components
- Participate in design critiques and pin-ups
- Interpret and apply building codes and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and revise architectural documents across phases (site plans, floor plans, elevations, details)
- Assist in bidding, negotiation, and addenda preparation
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimation
- Assist in project specifications and coordination of specs with construction documents
- Participate in constructability reviews and quality assurance/control
- Ensure alignment with project budget, schedule, and strategy planning
Key requirements- Requisite knowledge of accessibility codes and building codes
- Deep understanding of architectural documents production and their relationship to specs
- General knowledge of construction systems, materials, and standards
- Ability to perform space, block planning and adjacencies with building program
- Proficiency in developing floor plans, wall sections, and details
- Self-check for accuracy and manage time to meet budget and schedule
- Collaborative project team participation across all design phases
- Creative and critical thinking, ability to communicate concepts visually and verbally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Newforma, Sefaira, and Bluebeam
