Overview As an Underwriter for the construction excess portfolio, you will manage and underwrite complex accounts while driving growth in the region. You'll partner with retail and wholesale brokers, develop the pipeline, and deliver quotes and binders that meet budgeted premium goals. You work within Starr's entrepreneurial culture to build client relationships and scale a high-performing team. Responsibilities- Develop, oversee and underwrite the construction excess portfolio
- Achieve budgeted premium goals
- Build and maintain retail and wholesale broker relationships
- Manage production and excess construction staff in the region
- Solicit submissions, perform underwriting analysis, prepare indications/quotations/binders, and track the new business pipeline
Key requirements- 3+ years experience underwriting mid to large construction excess accounts
- Must have relationships with construction brokers
- Technical casualty underwriting capabilities
- Proven sales and business development skills
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Bachelor's degree preferred
