Overview In this role you will serve as the primary legal resource for the Texas Claim Center, focusing on insurance coverage matters. You will counsel senior management, collaborate with Claim Legal and other business units, and help shape claim strategies, regulatory responses, and staff training. You'll balance risk, client relationships, and budgets while staying ahead of legal developments. Responsibilities- Provide counsel to senior management on complex legal issues within the claims line
- Negotiate with clients and leaders on high-stakes matters
- Research legal principles and precedents relevant to the practice area
- Identify and communicate risk with actionable mitigation recommendations
- Draft, negotiate, and execute legal documents
- Monitor external judicial developments and market trends
- Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships
- Mentor and coach junior attorneys and paralegals
- Review and manage annual legal fees budgets and outside counsel invoices within authority
- Leverage technology and automation in legal practice
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Juris Doctorate (JD) or equivalent in law; active license to practice law in applicable states
- Seven+ years of prior legal experience as a practicing attorney (minimum emphasized)
- Active license in good standing to practice law in the state(s) required
