Quantum Physicist Engineer (from Experienced to Expert)

Job description

Overview

In this role you will bridge physics and engineering to design, prototype, test, and refine hardware and instrumentation. You'll lead hardware projects, diagnose issues, and apply advanced design methods to meet prototype and production needs. The work centers on quantum, optical, and photonic sensors, with opportunities to influence performance and cost. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to technical reporting in a mission-driven R&D environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and applies advanced design methods, theories, and research techniques
  • Analyzes and recommends design approaches to meet prototype/production requirements
  • Plan and conduct hardware projects or phases of projects
  • Mentor or provide technical leadership to team members
  • Develop and advance quantum, optical, and/or photonic sensors and instruments
  • Recommend performance improvements and cost reduction efforts
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Communicate with internal/external stakeholders and prepare technical reports
  • Adapt to changing program requirements and identify project challenges
  • Execute analysis assignments independently under leadership
  • Contribute content for technical reports and presentations
Key requirements
  • Bachelor or Master in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, optics, or related
  • 5-7 years with bachelor; 3-5 years with master
  • Proficiency in programming language and ability to write software for lab experiments
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead technical solutions to complex user requirements
  • Experience in hardware design, testing, and data analysis
