Overview In this role you help lead fire protection design for technically complex building projects within Stantec's Buildings Engineering team. You will design and review fire alarm, fire suppression, and special hazard systems, coordinating with architects and engineers to deliver integrated project documents. You'll communicate with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and insurance representatives to ensure compliance with codes and client requirements. This is a hands-on, cross disciplinary position that shapes safe, code compliant building designs on impactful projects.

Responsibilities- Design fire alarm, fire suppression, and special hazard systems
- Review and develop fire protection plans
- Collaborate with engineering and architectural disciplines
- Communicate with clients and write technical reports
- Coordinate schematic design, design development, and construction documents
- Assist in spatial coordination with architecture and other systems
- Work in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents
- Interface with AHJs and owner/insurance representatives
Key requirements- 8+ years of related fire protection design experience
- Experience with fire suppression, fire alarm, and special hazard system design
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and fire protection-related computational programs
- Knowledge of ICC and NFPA codes and standards
- Experience in Mission Critical and/or Semi-Conductor markets preferred
- CFPS, EIT, and/or NICET certification preferred
