Overview In this AVP role, you lead technical underwriting and account management for middle-market construction casualty programs. You will work with risk, claims, and risk engineering to assess exposures, price proposals, and coordinate account service. You'll manage post-bind activities, renewals, and agency relationships to drive growth, retention, and profitability. The position blends strategic underwriting with cross-functional collaboration to support Arch's construction portfolio and client outcomes.

Responsibilities- Solicit and review new and renewal account information to evaluate risk
- Identify exposures and hazards related to requested coverage and risk characteristics
- Underwrite, price, and prepare casualty proposals using product set and regulatory filings
- Coordinate with Risk Engineering and Claims to assess risk
- Present final quotation/proposal to producer and prospective insured
- Manage all administrative duties for existing and prospective accounts
- Own post-bind activities, audits, compliance, and related items
- Drive pre-renewal reviews and renewal process to meet retention and rate goals
- Develop and maintain relationships with key agency personnel to generate submissions
- Strategize and position Arch in agency and insured markets
- Engage team members for appropriate support
- Maintain underwriting and policy file documentation
- Complete ad hoc projects to enhance efficiency
Key requirements- Ten (10) years of casualty underwriting experience, construction underwriting preferred
- Established broker relationships in the region ideal
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training required
- CPCU or CRIS designation a plus
- Understanding of Workers Compensation, General Liability, Automobile and Excess coverage forms
- Exposure identification and analysis knowledge; basics of guaranteed cost and small deductible underwriting
- Cross-functional generalist knowledge across claims, risk control, audit, premium accounting, reinsurance, finance and legal
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Sales and negotiation skills; ability to influence and support team
- Willingness to travel to develop and maintain relationships in assigned territory
