Overview Senior Estimator in Glasgow to join the UK & Ireland Work Winning team, delivering accurate tenders for rail and energy projects. You will work with multiple departments to develop cost plans from first principles, manage risk assessments, and support bid strategy and client presentations. The role focuses on applying measurement standards, updating cost databases, and mentoring others to raise estimating capability. This position offers exposure to high-value rail and energy tenders, with a clear impact on winning key projects.

Responsibilities- Develop accurate estimates for rail and energy tenders with the Head of Estimating and Commercial team
- Produce comprehensive cost plans from first principles
- Apply recognised measurement rules in all estimates
- Identify tender opportunities and assess resource availability with operations
- Collaborate with planners, QS, and operational teams to align estimates with project needs
- Prepare risk and opportunity assessments and contribute to value engineering
- Maintain and update cost databases and benchmarking tools
- Support bid strategy meetings and client presentations
- Mentor less experienced estimators and contribute to team development
- Build rapport with clients and key stakeholders
Key requirements- Significant rail and/or transmission & distribution estimating/commercial experience
- Relevant degree in construction management, civil engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field (degree level)
- Minimum 2 years in senior/managing estimating or commercial planning roles
- Proficiency in estimating software (Candy, Causeway, CostX or similar)
- Experience with small and large projects and adapting to client needs
- Strong ability to produce detailed cost breakdowns and review cost/productivity rates
- Ability to produce reports and present data and calculations
