Overview

In this role you will coordinate Point-of-Care Testing activities and support Laboratory Services to maintain quality and regulatory standards. You will serve as a technical and operational resource across the lab, collaborating with clinicians, researchers, and other partners to ensure efficient workflows and continuous improvement. You help manage policies, documentation, and performance metrics, driving timely follow-up and QA initiatives. The position supports research coordination and lab operations, applying your expertise in phlebotomy, specimen handling, and EKG services. This is a hands-on role in a mission-driven environment focused on advancing patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Primary point of contact for Point-of-Care Testing operations, including QA/QC, device troubleshooting, and standardization across locations
  • Maintain and update POC and laboratory policies, training materials, competency records, and regulatory documentation (e.g., CLIA certificates)
  • Review logs, KPIs, and operational metrics to identify trends and ensure alignment with quality standards
  • Coordinate laboratory support for research teams, including scheduling, collection requirements, and specimen handling
  • Maintain knowledge of phlebotomy, specimen processing, EKG services, waived testing, and related systems to support operations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to troubleshoot issues and drive resolutions
  • Assist the Laboratory Manager with operational metrics, quality initiatives, and workflow improvements
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, flexibility, and problem-solving in support of Laboratory Services goals
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and MLS/MLT certification (or Master's degree in lieu of certification)
  • 3 to 5 years of clinical laboratory or related healthcare laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of Point-of-Care Testing operations, QA/QC, competency assessment, proficiency testing, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with EMR, LIS, and point-of-care data management systems
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nursing, laboratory staff, research teams, leadership, vendors, and external partners
  • Phlebotomy experience and competency preferred
