Practice Development Manager - Litigation & Enforcement

Overview

In this role you drive the Practice Development function within the Litigation & Enforcement group, partnering with leaders to set strategy, optimize operations, and grow the practice financially. You work across departments to implement initiatives, manage talent and budgets, and raise the group's profile through knowledge and thought leadership. You will shape process improvements, oversee performance metrics, and coordinate with partners across offices in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with PG leadership and stakeholders to develop a strategic plan with clear goals for differentiation, market positioning, talent, and profitability
  • Support daily operations of the practice group and run initiatives and meetings aligned with PG priorities
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in operations, matter management, and infrastructure; develop actionable implementation plans
  • Execute and track progress on initiatives in support of firm and PG strategies
  • Manage PG talent needs with PGLs and Attorney Talent, including onboarding, transitions, promotions, and succession planning
  • Draft sponsor memoranda and integration plans for candidate placements and promotions
  • Coordinate with Knowledge Management to address knowledge needs with PGLs and partners
  • Drive innovation through product development and thought leadership campaigns with various teams
  • Identify speaking opportunities, conferences, sponsorships, and writing opportunities to raise attorney profiles
  • Oversee preparation of legal ranking submissions and track PG experience across initiatives
  • Share practice area developments with relevant business support teams
  • Collaborate with Finance to analyze PG financial performance and drive growth, profitability, and utilization; prepare and manage budgets
  • Manage Practice Development Specialists and Coordinators through coaching and delegation of projects
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; JD or MBA preferred but not required
  • At least eight years of applicable experience in a mid-sized to large law firm or corporate environment
  • Proven leadership and people-management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with colleagues at all levels and across offices
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel occasionally to accommodate time zones and time-sensitive projects
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and analytical abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of internal and personnel matters
