Overview In this role you will independently underwrite policies within authority, focusing on complex or high-value accounts in North America. You will manage broker and client relationships, leveraging market presence to drive profitable business and provide data-driven insights. You will collaborate across departments to enhance underwriting processes, share expertise, and mentor others, while staying informed on relevant regulations. This position offers the chance to shape underwriting strategy and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable impact.
Responsibilities- Underwrite policies within authority for complex or high-value accounts
- Manage and grow a portfolio of brokers/agents and clients
- Develop profitable business and strengthen market relationships
- Explain coverage differences in detail and act as Liberty representative
- Contribute to business and marketing planning using portfolio analytics
- Participate in cross-department projects to improve underwriting and processes
- Collaborate with UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, and regional Directors on underwriting
- Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and regulations impacting underwriting
- Mentor, coach, and train other underwriters and internal partners
Key requirements- Degree in Business or equivalent typically required
- 7+ years underwriting experience (10+ often)
- CPCU or professional designation preferred
- Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks
- Strong communication skills for complex analyses to internal stakeholders
- Ability to define and implement underwriting and administrative processes for complex issues
- Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business
