Overview In this role, you support a sophisticated bankruptcy and restructuring practice focused on Chapter 11 matters and related litigation. You will work with partners to manage filings, strategy, and client communications in a fast-paced environment. You contribute to hearings, motions, and discovery while shaping case strategy and objectives. The opportunity offers direct partner exposure and meaningful case work in a renowned restructuring and litigation team.
Responsibilities- Support Chapter 11 matters, restructurings, contested matters, and adversary proceedings
- Draft and revise pleadings, motions, oppositions, replies, declarations, discovery, and settlement materials
- Conduct legal research on the Bankruptcy Code, FRBP, local bankruptcy rules, and relevant state law
- Assist with automatic stay issues, cash collateral, claims objections, plan confirmation, and related disputes
- Collaborate with partners to evaluate case strategy, posture, risk, and client objectives
- Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, depositions, mediations, and related proceedings
- Maintain organized files, notes, and deadlines in a fast-moving environment
- Manage discovery, document review, deposition prep, and hearing prep
- Track deadlines and filing requirements for bankruptcy matters
- Support case progress from intake through resolution, settlement, or trial-related prep
Key requirements- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active California bar admission, or ability to obtain promptly
- Direct experience with Chapter 11, business bankruptcy, bankruptcy litigation, restructuring, or debtor/creditor matters
- Strong legal research, analytical reasoning, persuasive writing, and motion drafting skills
- Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code, FRBP, CM/ECF, PACER, and court filing requirements
- Ability to manage deadlines, priorities, and detailed materials accurately
- Professional communication skills and sound judgment with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
