Manager of Business Development (Litigation)

Overview

In this role you drive practice group business development and coordinate marketing efforts within a global law firm. You'll partner with attorneys and leaders to translate client needs into strategic initiatives, pitches, and materials that elevate the firm's profile. You will lead BD goals, identify cross-selling opportunities, and support proposals and rankings submissions. You collaborate across marketing, research, events, and knowledge management to inform decisions and measure progress. This is a client-focused, growth-minded role with a clear impact on firm-wide visibility and revenue.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic BD plans with department and practice group leaders
  • Identify business leads, expand matters, and pursue cross-selling opportunities
  • Develop pitches, proposals, and responses to RFPs
  • Digest research on clients, competitors, and market trends to inform BD strategies
  • Create marketing collateral and client-facing materials; keep content updated
  • Support brand awareness activities and outward-facing events and publications
  • Manage knowledge management for groups, including experience submissions and awards
  • Track and report BD progress; advise lawyers on BD best practices
  • Oversee ranking submissions (Chambers, Law 360) and coordinate media opportunities
  • Assist with meeting agendas, practice group budgets, and monthly expense reviews
  • Support lateral integration and other BD/marketing duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience; law firm or professional services preferred
  • Strong ability to build relationships and communicate persuasively
  • Content creation and messaging development experience
  • Project management and budget monitoring capabilities
