Overview

In this role, you lead the Make and Test engine within AIDD to enable autonomous discovery at scale. You will manage a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, and automation scientists, ensuring rigorous experimental design, data integrity, and timely results. You'll drive lab operations governance and capacity planning while shaping the scientific roadmap and external partnerships. You will act as the scientific voice to customers and stakeholders, translating lab needs into actionable software and automation requirements. This is a chance to influence a first-in-class autonomous drug discovery platform and work across cross-functional teams to advance impactful science.

Responsibilities
  • Own Make and Test workflow and design autonomous chemical synthesis and biological testing with high-quality data and timely outputs
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, QC metrics, data lineage, safety and compliance; drive continuous improvement
  • Plan throughput, capacity, and resources; partner with Automation to scale while preserving data integrity
  • Contribute to platform roadmap; translate lab needs into software and automation requirements; manage assay onboarding and capabilities
  • Manage external partnerships and vendor governance; define SLAs and knowledge transfer
  • Hire and develop senior scientists; build cross-functional teamwork; scale team from 5 to 10 as needed
Key requirements
  • PhD with at least 8 years in pharma/biotech/CRO; proven scientific leadership in discovery programs
  • Hands-on chemistry and/or biology assay development; ability to optimize complex workflows with data-driven decisions
  • Experience leading science teams; recruiting, mentoring, retaining senior talent
  • Proven ability to communicate science clearly to customers and non-scientific stakeholders
  • Experience with lab operations governance: SOPs, QC metrics, data lineage, safety, high-throughput settings
