Overview

Join TTUHSC as a research laboratory role supporting project work under the principal investigator. You will develop procedures, handle experiments, and maintain laboratory operations and records. The role combines hands-on lab work with mentoring and training of students and staff in a collaborative, safety-conscious environment. You'll contribute to impactful biomedical research and animal studies that advance healthcare knowledge. Responsibilities
  • Assist PI in maintaining a collegial environment to foster scientific progress
  • Record procedures and data in lab notebooks
  • Establish and maintain laboratory records (expenditures, budgets, equipment, manuals, animal use, reagents, protocols, MSDS, databases)
  • Supervise and conduct laboratory support activities (ordering supplies, preparing solutions, sterilizing instruments)
  • Assist PI, postdocs, and students with training and tasks (experiments, talks, publications, grants)
  • Design, execute, and train new staff in animal care (humane handling, administration routes, blood collection, anesthesia, euthanasia)
  • Maintain animal xenograft experiments and daily rounds; potential weekend work
  • Assist with hiring/evaluations of assistants
  • Support primary cell line establishment from patient samples and ongoing cell line maintenance
  • Process new patient samples (blood, bone marrow, tumor, fluids); possible weekend work
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences or four years of related experience
  • Experience may substitute for degree on a year-for-year basis
  • Preferred: experience with mice models; molecular techniques
