Overview In this role you advance oligonucleotide production, developing new designs and processes and helping transfer technology into validated production steps. You will design and run experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings to internal and external partners. You'll build workflows focused on phosphoramidite chemistry and solid phase synthesis, driving improvements in yield and product quality. This position supports the company's mission to accelerate genomics breakthroughs and real world impact. You will work on a collaborative Emerging Technology team in Sunnyvale, on-site, with opportunities to shape scalable oligo synthesis solutions.

Responsibilities- Develop oligonucleotide synthesis workflows with emphasis on phosphoramidite chemistry and solid phase synthesis
- Apply organic chemistry principles to improve synthesis efficiency, yield, and product quality
- Design, execute, and optimize post-synthesis steps (cleavage, deprotection, purification) using LC MS and other techniques to assess identity, purity, and failure modes
- Evaluate and implement new reagents, chemistries, or process improvements for oligo synthesis platforms
- Communicate results to internal and external stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Master's degree in chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline; Ph.D. preferred
- 3+ years of hands-on industrial lab experience in synthesis of oligonucleotides or related chemistry
- Strong expertise in phosphoramidite chemistry and solid phase oligo synthesis
- Experience using LC MS (high resolution preferred) or orthogonal methods to characterize oligos
- Proven experience optimizing synthesis or downstream process steps (cleavage, deprotection, purification)
- Ability to travel 10% (domestic/international)
- Ability to lift up to 10 lb and work in a lab environment
