Overview In this role you will lead the design and governance of enterprise database systems to support mission-critical operations for a government program. You will guide a cross-functional team to modernize and maintain scalable databases and storage, ensuring performance, security, and resilience. You will collaborate with governance forums and architecture teams to align with DoS standards, delivering high-impact data solutions. Responsibilities- Lead the design of enterprise database strategies and governance across 350+ facilities
- Design and build large-scale relational databases for 40,000+ users, including data models and indexing
- Plan and implement server/storage infrastructure with modern technologies and cloud storage
- Design enterprise backup services with off-site redundancy and audit capabilities
- Integrate new databases with existing infrastructure to support modernization
- Develop backup/restoration infrastructure using RMAN and cloud backup services
- Coordinate with DT/EA/CST governance to ensure DOS standards compliance
- Create architecture documentation including ER diagrams, data flow diagrams, and ADRs
- Conduct reviews, capacity planning, and performance assessments of databases
- Mentor database teams and drive innovation in database technologies
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree + 8 years in related fields (enterprise-scale database architecture, administration, data/enterprise architecture, or database engineering)
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience with enterprise-scale database architecture and large relational databases for distributed environments (10,000+ users)
- Proven leadership experience managing complex database architecture projects and cross-team coordination
- Expert-level proficiency with relational DBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and deep DB architecture knowledge
