Overview In this role you will assess and underwrite commercial and industrial lease and loan requests from mid-market enterprises, collaborating with cross-functional teams to present credible risk assessments. You will analyze business and financial data, identify key risks, and prepare timely credit recommendations that align with bank policies. You will also monitor borrower performance, ensure accurate financial spreads and covenant calculations, and contribute to process improvements and training. Responsibilities- Underwrite new and renewal C&I lease and loan requests with equipment financing
- Collaborate with Commercial Portfolio Managers, Client Solutions Managers, and Relationship Managers to present findings and risk mitigations
- Analyze business, industry, and financial data to assess creditworthiness
- Identify and document key risks impacting repayment prospects
- Prepare concise credit recommendations with quantitative and qualitative analysis and risk ratings
- Spread financial statements and calculate covenants in line with bank guidelines and approval conditions
- Monitor borrower financial performance and ensure compliance with loan documentation
- Coordinate borrower notifications and resolve policy or guideline exceptions
- Provide insights on customer financial needs and opportunities for relationship growth
- Mentor or supervise junior underwriters or credit analysts; participate in training and quality control
- Ensure compliance with bank regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes
- Support customer and prospect calls and contribute to portfolio management
- May be involved in loan structuring discussions to mitigate risk in a competitive market

Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree required
- 7-10 years of commercial credit underwriting experience in a lease and loan environment
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, practices and documentation
- Strong ability in credit quality analysis including accounting, financial statement spreading, and cash flow analysis
- Ability to train and present to varied audiences
- Strong time management and multi-tasking ability
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to manage customer relationships
- Experience with coaching or supervising other underwriters or analysts (preferred)
