Overview

As a CPU Performance Architect at Intel, you will shape next-generation CPU designs, driving performance and efficiency for high-end and low-power products. You'll work with cross-functional teams to define scalable microarchitectures and tackle bottlenecks that impact real workloads. Your work directly supports Intel's leadership in performance and energy efficiency across enterprise to edge markets. This role offers hands-on opportunities to influence architecture choices and deliver impactful results.

Responsibilities
  • Develop end-to-end CPU microarchitecture specifications for optimized, modular CPUs
  • Evaluate feasibility and define new microarchitectures with attention to hardware-software interoperability
  • Model CPU performance/power and identify bottlenecks for future workloads
  • Collaborate with architects, design, verification, and validation engineers during project execution
  • Define new microarchitecture and mitigations to improve design and address bottlenecks/constraints
  • Assist in debug/fix of performance miscorrelation between RTL and silicon results against performance models
  • Demonstrate experience in high-performance CPU design across domains (e.g., Branch Prediction, Fetch/Decode, Rename/Allocation, etc.) and debugging microarchitecture/RTL issues
  • Apply analytical and technical skills to resolve complex problems
  • Contribute to pathfinding, RTL correlation, and post-Si performance tuning
Key requirements
  • Master's Degree with 10+ years of experience in CPU performance or PhD with relevant dissertation and 6+ years in high-performance CPU teams
  • 10+ years' experience in cycle-accurate C++ CPU performance simulators
  • Strong background in microarchitecture/RTL/logic development
  • Experience in debugging microarchitecture and simulation issues
  • Proven ability to resolve complex problems using analytical and technical skills
  • Expertise across CPU domains (e.g., Branch Prediction, Fetch/Decode, Memory Subsystem, etc.)
