Overview In this role you will lead and oversee UCSF's histocompatibility laboratory within the Division of Transplant Surgery. You will work closely with the Laboratory Director to maintain high-throughput serological and molecular testing, including flow cytometry, and ensure robust quality systems. You will contribute to teaching, personnel management, and client consultation with transplant surgeons and hematopoietic stem cell transplant physicians. Responsibilities- Oversee serological and molecular histocompatibility testing using high-throughput systems and flow cytometry
- Maintain and improve quality systems within a complex laboratory
- Lead, mentor, and manage technical and administrative staff
- Consult with transplant surgeons and hematopoietic stem cell transplant physicians to support clinical care
- Teach and contribute to education programs for surgery residents and medical students
- Collaborate with the Director on operational leadership and program administration
- Foster independent research by pursuing or supporting research funding
- Engage in program development and strategic planning for the histocompatibility laboratory
Key requirements- MD and/or PhD
- American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) certification
- Licensed or eligible to practice in California
- Expertise in serological and molecular histocompatibility testing
- Experience with high-throughput systems and flow cytometry
- Strong leadership, teaching, and personnel management skills
