Design Manager

In this role, you will lead the design process for Webcor projects, ensuring timely deliverables and alignment with owner requirements. You will serve as the primary link between design teams, operations, and the client, guiding design development from development through occupancy. You will establish BIM protocols, manage constructability reviews, and drive design decisions to optimize cost and schedule. This position offers impact across design-build and preconstruction efforts, shaping how projects meet regulatory and owner standards while maintaining quality.

• Partner with the Owner to develop and maintain design documentation
• Manage the overall design process and schedule
• Serve as the primary communication channel between the design team and Webcor
• Monitor design submittals, permitting, and approvals, escalating issues when needed
• Lead design meetings and workshops and maintain accurate records
• Coordinate with Operations, Scheduling, Estimating, and Document Control to align design, procurement, and information-sharing workflows
• Establish BIM protocols with VDC and ensure compliance
• Lead constructability reviews and manage related comments
• Coordinate site access needs between design team and Operations
• Develops RFPs and prepares scopes of work for design firms and design-assist partners
• Reviews development agreements to ensure Webcor compliance
• Integrates design deliverables with construction schedules
• Develops internal cost analyses and design metrics
• Updates Webcor Best Practices and leads Design Management training

• Licensed Architect/Engineer with at least 10 years of industry experience as a technical architect/engineer
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture preferred, or equivalent experience
• Professional Engineer or Registered Architect preferred
• Proven experience in the design phase of a project and ability to direct design team to positive outcomes

• Strong relationship-building with risk/legal, executives, and owner/architects/engineers
• Ability to lead, manage, and mentor staff
• Clear goal-setting and effective meeting leadership
• Proven experience in technical design development and managing design consultants (Architectural, Structural, MEP/HVAC)
• BIM proficiency and experience with Revit, Navisworks, QTO
• Understanding of building systems and design-construction-operations lifecycle
