Overview As Commercial Insurance Manager in Tulsa, you own the P&C portfolio's profitability, growth, and retention for key sectors. You lead underwriting strategy and go-to-market efforts, driving cross-functional collaboration with product, specialty, and distribution teams. You manage a local team to deepen broker and client relationships and expand high-value segments. You will align branch objectives with regional goals, ensuring disciplined underwriting and strong execution. This role offers impact through shaping local market strategies and advancing a multi-line portfolio in a leading global insurer.
Responsibilities- Own P&L and portfolio performance for the Tulsa Commercial Insurance P&C book, focusing on growth and profitability in lower middle market and high-margin sectors such as Technology and Life Sciences
- Forecast and report production, plans, and pipeline; align with regional leadership
- Develop territory strategies to grow broker/client relationships and capitalize on market opportunities
- Drive growth in Multinational, Environmental, A&H, Marine, and Financial Lines through cross-sell and coordinated GTM activity
- Lead underwriting strategy for new/renewal business with disciplined risk selection and pricing; coordinate with Home Office/Product
- Oversee underwriting quality, file standards, governance, and compliance to audit standards
- Develop and execute local market strategies and marketing/distribution plans with Field Operations
- Direct business development activities and mentor/guide team on prospecting, pipeline management, and deal execution
- Travel within the area for broker/client meetings and team alignment
- Lead, coach, and develop underwriting staff; manage onboarding, performance, mentorship, and succession planning
- Ensure effective deployment of staff and technology to support field operations and client service
- Partner with HR on performance management, compensation, and talent decisions
Key requirements- Ten+ years of multi-line underwriting experience with strong P&C knowledge
- Strong understanding of field distribution (brokers, regional, independent agents)
- Proven people management and leadership skills
- Advanced technical/underwriting leadership for a multiline underwriting team
- Strong marketing and sales capabilities; ability to build strategic relationships
