Overview

As Data Center Construction Manager, you will lead construction efforts for AWS data centers, balancing scope, schedule, quality, and budget through close collaboration with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams. You will be on-site daily, directing contractors and ensuring safe, cost-efficient, high-quality delivery of electrical and mechanical systems. The role emphasizes ownership, cross-functional leadership, and driving resiliency initiatives. This is your chance to shape world-class, energy-efficient data centers at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Direct interface with general contractors through bidding, award, execution, and closeout phases
  • Negotiate with general contractors and evaluate bids with detail and accuracy
  • Create construction project scope and RFPs
  • Perform financial analysis of construction
  • Manage projects aimed at increasing data center resiliency
  • Review constructability of electrical and mechanical designs
  • Manage construction documents, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and invoicing
  • Ensure construction quality control and report key metrics
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment failures
  • Serve as a leader within the group and with internal/external teams
Key requirements
  • 6+ years of experience building and managing complex MEP systems in mission-critical environments
  • 4+ years managing general contractors and vendors, including RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFIs/submittals
  • Experience with large-scale power distribution/generation gear and cooling systems
  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent)
  • Experience taking new design concepts through exploration to deployment
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems
