Overview In this role you will support the General Counsel and Deputy Counsels with legal review, policy guidance, and legislative drafting across the EOAF portfolio. You will advise on compliance, draft legislation, and contribute to strategy and policy development in collaboration with Secretariats and agencies. You'll engage in cross-disciplinary work streams and help interpret laws, regulations, and contracts to advance budget and policy initiatives. This is a fast-paced position with a strong impact on statewide fiscal and policy outcomes.
Responsibilities- Analyze laws, policies, and contracts related to policy matters before the EOAF
- Prepare legal memoranda for EOAF matters
- Provide policy and legal recommendations and draft legislation for the annual state budget, supplemental budgets, and bond bills
- Advise on legislative matters, including analysis, comments, and drafting legislation
- Analyze proposed regulations and advise on legal, policy, and implementation considerations
- Develop policy proposals with internal and external stakeholders
- Understand and apply federal compliance guidance
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsels
Key requirements- 2-5 years of relevant experience
- Massachusetts Bar in good standing
- Strong collaboration skills to organize information and identify key factors
