Overview

As a Senior Language Educator and Curriculum Designer at Duolingo, you will shape Hindi and other South Asian language courses, aligning pedagogy with cultural context and scalable, AI-assisted content creation. You'll work with product, design, and engineering to deliver mobile-first learning that reflects linguistic diversity and helps reach Duolingo's mission of education for hundreds of millions of learners. Your role blends expert teaching, content strategy, and collaboration to drive measurable learning impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead curriculum and learning design for South Asian languages (starting with Hindi)
  • Leverage human-in-the-loop AI workflows and prompt engineering to generate and refine高-quality content
  • Establish and maintain content quality systems (guidelines, rubrics, review workflows) for linguistic accuracy, difficulty calibration, consistency, and brand voice
  • Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and Scaling Operations to plan roadmaps, ship experiments, and build scalable content generation processes
  • Contribute to strategy for teaching Hindi and other South Asian languages, informed by regional sociolinguistic context
  • Identify, recruit, onboard, and manage freelance educators, linguists, cultural consultants, and language reviewers
Key requirements
  • Hindi teaching curriculum expertise and deep proficiency in Hindi as an additional language
  • India-centered cultural and regional expertise with nuanced understanding of sociolinguistic context
  • Knowledge of Indo-Aryan languages and familiarity with Dravidian languages; ability to learn others
  • Linguistics training, including language typology, with experience applying it to pedagogy
  • Analytical thinking to evaluate linguistic questions and distinguish errors from variation
  • Interest in AI-enabled, human-in-the-loop systems for scalable quality control
  • Creativity and product sense to translate learning objectives into engaging experiences
  • Operational strength to lead complex projects and maintain documentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across disciplines
