Sr. Sourcing Specialist, Construction

Overview

In this role you will drive strategic sourcing and contract execution to enable SpaceX's Hawthorne construction initiatives that expand and optimize infrastructure for aerospace manufacturing. You will partner with internal stakeholders to cut costs, improve supplier performance, and implement robust contract management. You will shape supplier relationships and negotiate terms to maximize value while maintaining high standards of quality and schedule adherence. This is a fast-paced, impact-driven position that supports mission-critical programs across satellites and rocket components.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a contract management process to support project execution
  • Create category sourcing strategies to meet cost and payment targets
  • Maintain relationships to optimize value and sustain continuous cost reduction
  • Communicate and enforce category strategy compliance
  • Identify and execute cost reduction projects with stakeholder coordination
  • Perform quantitative analyses to understand financial impact and cost improvements
  • Collaborate to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure performance
  • Conduct market research, benchmarking, and category analysis
  • Create contract documents with legal collaboration
  • Manage supplier performance against contract obligations
  • Interpret contractual terms to fit business needs
  • Negotiate to maximize value and reduce risk
  • Drive year-over-year cost optimization by reducing waste
  • Establish preferred suppliers for categories
  • Streamline procurement processes from PO to pay
  • Develop programs to monitor and improve supplier KPIs
  • Place POs and resolve invoicing blocks
  • Lead efforts to reduce transaction volumes for categories
Key requirements
  • Bachelor degree or advanced degree with 2+ years in engineering, supply chain, purchasing, contract negotiation, or related fields; or 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong problem-solving with bias for speed
  • Fast learner and prioritization ability
  • Excellent customer service and communication (written, verbal, presentation)
  • MS Office Suite
  • SQL
  • PowerBI
