Assistant Construction Manager - Power (Houston, TX)

Overview

In this role, you will support the Construction Project Manager and EPC teams to drive safe, on-time, and within-budget project delivery across diverse industries. You collaborate with field teams, subcontractors, and clients to manage safety, quality, schedule, and cost while coordinating procurement, documentation, and turnover. You'll contribute to project execution plans, risk reviews, and contract administration, shaping execution for EPC ventures. This is an opportunity to impact multi-industry projects by applying practical construction management and collaborative problem-solving.

Responsibilities
  • Support safety, quality, schedule, and cost control across projects
  • Assist with project planning documents (Execution Plan, QA Plan, Safety Plan, Subcontracting Plan) and staffing
  • Contribute to negotiation and administration of prime contracts, subcontracts, POs, and change orders
  • Prepare and manage project mobilization/demobilization plans and permits
  • Assist with bidder pre-qualification, RFPs, scope development, and subcontractor selection
  • Support RFI management, submittals, meeting minutes, change management, and claims mitigation
  • Aid in cost reporting, scheduling, WBS, project setup and closeout, and field progress tracking
  • Prepare project status reports and attend stakeholder communications
  • Ensure proper project documentation, insurance, licenses, taxes, and security compliance
  • Support auditing, safety, quality, progress, and financial assessments
  • Coordinate materials receiving, inventory control, and turnover documentation
  • Assist in labor agreements, craft supervision onboarding, and crew cost analysis
  • Maintain posting and progression records for craft classifications and training
  • Uphold company policies and assist with procurement planning and vendor management
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in a related field and 3 years of construction experience (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience on construction sites or program management in relevant industries preferred
  • Understanding of GAAP is a plus
