Overview In this role you join a prestigious AmLaw 50 international law firm to support a sophisticated International Trade Practice focused on export controls, tariffs, customs, sanctions, and CFIUS. You will work with cross practice teams on complex, cross border regulatory matters and advise clients on compliance and regulatory strategy. Responsibilities- Advise clients on export controls, customs law, tariffs, sanctions, and CFIUS reviews
- Assist with compliance requirements managed by BIS, DDTC, U.S. CBP, and OFAC
- Analyze customs matters including entry, classification, valuation
- Support matters involving antidumping, countervailing duty, and safeguard laws
- Conduct legal/regulatory research and provide clear guidance on complex issues
- Draft memoranda, submissions, compliance materials, and client communications
- Collaborate with attorneys across practices and offices on cross border matters
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise on potential impacts
Key requirements- 2/3+ years of substantive international trade law experience
- Active Bar Admission in the District of Columbia in good standing
- Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese
- Experience in BIS/DDTC export controls or related customs law
- Experience with OFAC sanctions preferred
- Experience with trade remedy investigations a plus
- Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and communication skills
