Overview In this role you will develop, grow and maintain a profitable equipment breakdown book while supporting Liberty Mutual's rapid growth. You'll balance risk, pricing and terms to build a diversified portfolio and cultivate strong agent/broker partnerships. You will lead underwriting decisions, mentor junior teammates, and use underwriting tools to drive performance and compliance. The work centers on strategic growth, relationship-building and delivering solid, data-driven proposals. Responsibilities- Risk selection: review, rate and underwrite applications; qualify accounts and determine premiums, terms and conditions; secure approvals and negotiate deals
- Agent/broker relationships: respond quickly, visit clients, conduct renewal meetings, and build a high-quality pipeline
- Portfolio management: analyze the book for growth, profitability and diversification; implement marketing plans and broker calls
- Documenting the deal: maintain clear files, account reviews, sign-offs and referrals; ensure adherence to regulations and guidelines
- Leadership: mentor and coach underwriters and analysts on technical and professional skills
- Continuous improvement: participate in problem-solving and apply improvement tools to the team's work
Key requirements- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of insurance products, underwriting, pricing, risk selection and reinsurance
- Ability to apply tools, systems and resources to achieve goals and negotiate effectively
- Bachelor's degree (related field) with 2-7 years of experience; CPCU or professional designation preferred
