Overview

In this role you lead HDR's Construction Services Group in Michigan, overseeing civil, highway, water and wastewater construction delivery. You'll guide project management, controls, inspection supervision, and QA, ensuring work aligns with HDR's quality standards. You collaborate with owners, engineers, and contractors to resolve issues and keep projects on schedule and budget. The position blends leadership, business development, and client management to grow HDR's construction services footprint. You'll work on diverse projects, from roads to water facilities, delivering safe, high-quality infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Pursue and win construction services projects and mentor staff
  • Monitor staffing and resources for project delivery
  • Oversee construction activities and resolve changes, deficiencies, and contractor performance issues
  • Maintain daily construction site records and progress reports (safety, quality, schedule, budget)
  • Coordinate with owners, contractors, engineers, and consultants to review progress and issues
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes, and facilitate progress meetings
  • Review submittals, RFIs, pay applications, and project schedules for approval
  • Provide plan reviews and constructability input; support project controls with CPM scheduling
  • Support local and national project controls teams; communicate with PMs, field staff, and clients
  • Work outdoors on active construction sites
  • Perform other construction management tasks as assigned
  • Manage small projects or assist on larger projects
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and accounting teams
  • Ensure proper documentation administration and filing
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role
  • PE license required (preferred)
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
