Overview As Technical Architect for Space-1, you own the end-to-end system software architecture for orbital AI hardware. You will define interfaces across silicon, firmware, OS, and AI stacks to deliver a production-ready, radiation-tolerant inference platform. You'll collaborate with orbital hardware teams and customers to translate mission requirements into robust, scalable software solutions. The role combines hands-on engineering with strategic leadership to enable autonomous data centers in LEO. This is a chance to shape space-grade AI infrastructure and work at the frontier of aerospace computing.
Compensation / Benefits Responsibilities- Own end-to-end system software architecture for Space-1 and successor orbital modules (data center stack, BMC firmware, BIOS, host OS, GPU/CPU drivers, CUDA, DCGM, and manageability telemetry).
- Co-architect interfaces, partitioning, and trade-offs across silicon, board, firmware, OS, and AI workload layers for 5-year LEO missions.
- Define manageability architecture for autonomous, remote data centers: remote bring-up, in-orbit firmware updates, dual-module redundancy, fault containment, recovery from SEU/SEFI, and telemetry for fleets.
- Architect rad-tolerant system software behaviors: ECC, memory scrubbing, latch-up mitigation, deterministic recovery, and graceful degradation over decades and thousands of thermal cycles.
- Drive Redfish, MCTP, PLDM, and constellation-level management protocols across BMC, BIOS, and host software for ground-equivalent tooling in space fleets.
- Define minimum BMC feature set, boot architecture, and dual-module redundancy in partnership with platform/mechanical teams.
- Partner with cloud and constellation customers to translate mission requirements (orbit, duty cycle, security, post-quantum networking, SLAs) into platform software architecture.
- Drive reliability and telemetry performance through eclipse periods and idle-power strategies; work with bring-up teams from silicon to launch.
- Own quality, reliability, and telemetry for each ODC module shipped to customers.
Key requirements- 15+ years of server/platform system software experience covering compute libraries, BMC firmware, BIOS, host OS, drivers, and manageability.
- Proven record architecting and delivering platform software for large-scale data centers or mission-critical embedded systems.
- Strong knowledge of server architecture, data center manageability, and full-stack integration of firmware with OS and accelerator software.
- Hands-on experience with data center health management workflows, telemetry, and fault management at scale.
- Solid understanding of hardware management interfaces (USB, SMBus/I2C, PCIe) and proficiency with Redfish, MCTP, PLDM.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python; experience with server platform bring-up and pre-silicon work.
- Experience with SCM (Git, Perforce) and Jira; excellent communication and teamwork.
