Responsibilities- Underwrite, price, and select risks within assigned lines per company guidelines
- Maintain profitability, growth, and retention for the portfolio
- Evaluate risk characteristics (operations, financials, management, loss history) for acceptability
- Apply pricing, credits/debits, and underwriting judgment to achieve target returns
- Accept or reject risks within delegated authority while aligning with profitability objectives
- Monitor book performance and take corrective action as needed
- Stay current on regulatory, rating, and coverage changes impacting assigned lines
- Drive new business production and growth through proactive agency engagement and cross-sell across Commercial Lines
- Develop and manage a producer force capable of generating profitable business
- Monitor production quality and profitability of producers and hold them accountable
- Promote all Company products and support cross-sell within agency interactions
- Prospect, prequalify, and appoint new producers aligned with Company strategy
- Set and monitor production expectations with agency partners
- Maintain knowledge of territory, production sources, competitors, and market trends
- Identify opportunities for growth and market expansion and provide feedback to leadership
- Serve as primary Company contact for assigned and prospective producers
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with agencies through visits and presentations
- Provide underwriting and production support in account strategy and marketing discussions
- Deliver responsive service to agents and insureds and resolve inquiries promptly
- Communicate consistently via in-person visits, calls, and Company technology
- Present agency performance insights and management strategies to internal and external stakeholders
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in a related field
- Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training
- Current driver's license
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers
- Ability to apply underwriting principles and guidelines
- Ability to evaluate submissions, financials, and policy forms/endorsements
- Knowledge of commercial insurance products (e.g., Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Property, etc.)
- Ability to balance underwriting discipline with business development, production, and cross-sell goals
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Analytical ability to assess risk and make sound underwriting decisions
