Overview As an Expert Database Architect and L2 Technical Operational Support, you will shape data infrastructure for NYS ITS and NYSDOT, enabling secure access for authorized users. You collaborate with business SMEs, COTS vendors, and IT teams to define system requirements and design robust data architectures. You drive SSDLC activities, optimize ODI/ELT/ETL processes, and ensure production readiness of solutions. You help improve current systems, audit data quality, and coordinate cross functional efforts to meet project milestones. This role offers meaningful impact through secure, scalable data solutions in a government context.
Responsibilities- Engage with business SMEs, COTS vendors, and IT teams to define application and system requirements
- Design data infrastructure to extract and organize data for authorized access
- Identify data sources and collaborate with SMEs to determine storage and organization needs
- Participate in the Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) including debugging and configuration
- Recommend and implement ODI/ELT and ETL process improvements
- Assist and verify design and deliverables for design phases
- Manage build phase and ensure code quality aligns with architectural standards
- Identify and resolve design and development issues; detect bugs
- Determine requirements for new databases and installation solutions
- Publish and present design reports and participate in risk/issue reviews
- Audit databases regularly to maintain quality and security
- Design and document all components of approved applications including system integrations
- Write clean, testable code and develop testing plans
- Performance tune, review, and refactor code as needed
- Deploy fully functional applications and track changes via ticketing system
