SENIOR LABORATORY MANAGER

Overview

In this role you will oversee technical services across laboratory departments, ensuring compliant operations and quality programs. You will supervise MLS department supervisors and collaborate with leadership to drive performance metrics and process improvements. You will lead validations, instrument implementations, and QA initiatives while addressing safety and regulatory requirements. This is a strategic, cross-functional role that shapes lab operations and patient-centered care at a large health system.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee validations, instrument implementations, and daily lab operations across departments
  • Supervise up to five MLS department supervisors and ensure regulatory and procedural compliance
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance programs and review test results, reporting rules, and reference ranges
  • Investigate safety and quality concerns with proper documentation, follow-up, and resolution
  • Develop and present quality and performance metrics; coordinate scientific staff and collaborate with contractors/consultants
  • Lead multiple projects and initiatives, implementing process improvements to enhance workflow, productivity, quality, and service delivery
  • Foster collaboration with laboratory leadership, vendors, clinicians, and administration to support clinical and operational excellence
  • Promote continuous improvement and patient-centered care using QA/PI tools (PDSA) and change management strategies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Master of Science degree (MS) from an accredited institution
  • Board certification (AMT, ASCP) as Generalist MLS/CLS/DCLS meeting CLIA 42 CFR standards
  • Three (3) years of clinical laboratory operations experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role
  • Willingness and ability to travel to CCH worksites
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal effectiveness across all staff levels
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
  • Knowledge of hospital laboratory accreditation and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with validating new tests, methods, and processes
  • Ability to develop and analyze performance metrics and dashboards
