Overview

In this role, you will lead and coordinate real estate negotiations and drafts for purchases, leases, and related transactions, supporting the company's rapid expansion. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to open new locations and manage due diligence on land use, zoning, and environmental matters. The position sits in the Legal Department and offers remote or Columbia, MO options, with growth opportunities in a fast-paced, mission-driven company. You will help shape real estate strategy and improve processes to speed to market.

Responsibilities
  • Lead negotiation and drafting of real estate agreements, including ancillary documents for purchases, sales, leases, sale-leasebacks, and real estate finance
  • Provide notices and advisory support on lease disputes; assist with general transaction support
  • Assist with due diligence and curative efforts for land use, including zoning, title, survey, and environmental review
  • Support closing checklists for M&A, public finance, and development transactions
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to rapidly open new locations
  • Interact with outside counsel, landlords, title/escrow agents, and other stakeholders
  • Improve legal procedures and forms to speed up time-to-market
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active attorney license in good standing; admission to the bar in at least one state
  • Minimum 5 years of substantive commercial real estate transaction experience
  • Experience with environmental law and retail/industrial leases; strong portfolio experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage a high volume of active projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Google Workspace proficiency
  • Strong technical aptitude to learn proprietary systems
