Overview As Privacy Counsel at Verkada, you will shape global privacy and AI governance from the ground up. You collaborate with privacy, security, product, and legal stakeholders to build scalable compliance programs. You will advise on AI/ML and biometric considerations across products and international transactions. This role offers a strategic, executable impact within a fast-growing hardware-software company. Responsibilities- Serve as subject matter expert on global privacy laws and emerging AI/ML regulations
- Develop and govern the Privacy program, policies, and procedures across the company
- Lead Responsible AI governance, SDLC policy, and cross-functional implementation
- Provide privacy legal counsel to Product and Engineering from ideation to launch
- Draft and maintain form agreements (DPAs/BAAs, intra-group agreements) and advise on privacy issues in transactions
- Oversee audit governance and compliance across regions
- Advise on incident response and regulatory inquiries
- Advocate for data privacy and security internally and externally
Key requirements- J.D. from ABA-approved law school
- 8+ years of privacy experience, incl. 4+ years in-house at a B2B tech company
- Expertise in data privacy, biometrics, and AI/ML regulations with trend foresight
- Experience advising multinational, fast-growing hardware/software products
- Experience in global transactions involving privacy, data sharing, AI/ML
- Strong communication and ability to bridge technical and non-technical partners
- Ability to break down ambiguity and drive alignment
- Interest in privacy adtech is a plus
- Willingness to commute 5 days in office
