Lead / Senior Attorney - Debt Recovery Litigation

Overview

As a Litigation Attorney, you manage state-specific litigation workflows and perform document review, discovery, and filing activities. You collaborate with the Managing Attorney and clients to discuss case details and support audits, research legal issues, and analyze outcomes based on precedents. You oversee settlements, coordinate with outside counsel and collections partners, and ensure compliance with debt-related laws. This role combines hands-on litigation work with leadership and mentorship to drive efficient case resolution and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Manage state-specific litigation workflows and forms
  • Conduct document review and discovery
  • Execute documents requiring the Attorney's signature
  • Communicate with Managing Attorney and clients on case details
  • Assist in responding to litigation components of client audits
  • Monitor rules, regulations, statutes, and case law
  • Conduct legal research and problem analysis
  • Analyze probable case outcomes using precedents
  • Prepare and file legal documents
  • Manage and resolve collection litigation
  • Coordinate with Pro Se litigants, opposing counsel, and parties to settle files
  • Oversee interactions with outside collections and defense counsel
  • Support corporate compliance with debt collection laws and regulations
Key requirements
  • Active law license in California
  • 5-7 years of civil litigation experience; debt collection experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role
  • Proven case analysis and settlement skills
  • Ability to teach, train, coach, and mentor
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in internet and online research
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to represent the company in community forums
