Overview In this role you will lead the Research Hemostasis & Coagulation Core Lab within the Department of Anesthesiology, ensuring efficient translational research support for perioperative, critical care, and trauma studies. You will work with investigators to coordinate sample logistics, assays, and data delivery, while maintaining high-quality laboratory services. You will manage staff, SOPs, QA, and regulatory compliance to enable reliable, timely research outcomes. Responsibilities- Oversee daily lab operations including sample receipt, processing, workflow coordination, and scheduling
- Supervise and train staff, students, and trainees; provide ongoing performance feedback
- Manage and maintain coagulation/hemostasis instrumentation (viscoelastic platforms, platelet testing, thrombin generation, ELISAs) including maintenance and service coordination
- Implement and maintain SOPs, quality control, QA processes, and required documentation
- Ensure compliance with biosafety, human specimen handling, chemical safety, and lab safety training
- Coordinate with investigators on sample logistics, assay scheduling, and data return
- Monitor supplies, inventory, and equipment service contracts; support uninterrupted operations
- Assist with budget and recharge tasks; collaborate with administration and Scientific Director
- Perform bench work to support assays, validate new methods, and troubleshoot
- Design instrumentation and models for data gathering and analysis; oversee data collection integrity
- Oversee administrative, financial, staffing, and planning aspects of research
- Perform related responsibilities as required
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a biological science, clinical laboratory science, biomedical engineering, or related field
- At least three years of relevant professional research or clinical laboratory experience (coagulation/hemostasis/hematology preferred)
- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience in a lab
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work with diverse investigators and staff
