Sr. Manager Geospatial Innovation Architect

Overview

In this role you lead the enterprise GIS platform's reliability and scalability, ensuring uptime and secure integration with Asset Management systems. You will guide architecture, governance, and incident coordination while supporting innovation pilots. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to keep GIS data and services stable for maintenance and capital projects. The position offers a chance to shape the LIRR's geospatial infrastructure and data standards at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain the GIS platform, databases, map services, and server environments
  • Deploy geospatial applications across development environments with version control and regression testing
  • Create and update technical documentation and knowledge base articles
  • Perform spatial and statistical analyses and develop dashboards for maintenance and investment decisions
  • Standardize GIS data across departments and coordinate external data integrations (including EAM integrations)
  • Manage data from external sources and NDAs; coordinate with MTA on EGIS design
  • Ensure applications are tested before deployment and GIS infrastructure is well-documented and accessible
  • Develop GIS-based scripts and applications (Python/R/Go, JavaScript, SQL) for automation and integration workflows
Key requirements
  • 7+ years in Planning, Asset Management, or GIS, preferably in transportation operations
  • Strong analytical, transportation planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with GIS/GPS, Esri Enterprise (ArcGIS Server/Portal), and visual database technologies
  • Experience with personal and SDE geodatabases, linear referencing systems, geoprocessing, and spatial analyses
  • Knowledge of EAM software such as Hexagon EAM and IBM Maximo and their GIS integrations
  • Ability to train users in GIS methodologies when needed
  • Strong writing, presentation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Programming/Scripting: Python, R, Go, JavaScript, SQL for automation and data pipelines
