Overview In this role you will lead and coordinate large, cross-functional projects within the College of Engineering, applying established project management practices to deliver objectives and align with university priorities. You will partner with college leadership, faculty, staff, and external vendors to ensure successful outcomes and transparent reporting. The position emphasizes governance, planning, and executive support to inform strategic decisions and drive organizational performance. This is a hands-on, fast-paced opportunity to shape complex initiatives that advance education, research, and innovation at CMU.

Responsibilities- Lead and manage large, complex cross-functional projects from initiation to closeout
- Apply structured project management methodologies to ensure consistent execution
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
- Establish governance structures, decision-making frameworks, and reporting processes
- Facilitate communication among teams, sponsors, leadership, and stakeholders
- Coordinate with multi-departmental stakeholders and external vendors
- Monitor progress, metrics, and deliverables against scope, timeline, and budget
- Prepare executive briefings, presentations, and meeting materials
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in project management practices
- Support strategic priorities and organizational planning
- Perform related duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Significant experience managing large-scale projects in higher education, research, technology, or operations
- Expertise in project management methodologies, governance, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority
- Experience with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in a university or research setting
