Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role you serve as the primary client interface to deliver value-driven cost management for construction projects. You will lead cost planning, estimation, and monitoring, collaborating with design teams, contractors, and clients to keep projects on budget. You'll influence decision-making through cost insights, valuations, and change management, shaping outcomes across the project lifecycle. This position offers impact at scale within a global firm focused on real estate, infrastructure, and related sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Estimate and negotiate change orders through the construction lifecycle
  • Produce and present final cost plans and oversee cost planning
  • Review cost estimates with design services and general contractor teams
  • Reconcile changes and ensure data accuracy for contractors
  • Coordinate cost information from multiple sources for discussions and updates
  • Prepare executive cost summaries and comments on submissions
  • Drive cost information gathering from NPA, subs, and A/Es
  • Inform engineering priorities based on cost impact
  • Manage cost checks, valuations, and post-contract variances
  • Coordinate funding data presentations and VE sessions with stakeholders
  • Develop cost plans during design phases and update at milestones
  • Provide commercial input to design optioneering and value engineering
  • Review contractor pricing and lead client negotiations for fair pricing
  • Produce monthly cost reports and ensure timely final accounts
  • Mentor and coach talent to realize potential and promote excellence
Key requirements
  • Bachelor degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or related field
  • 5-7 years in a cost management role within construction
  • RICS accreditation or working towards it (preferred)
  • Experience leading cost management on medium to high complexity projects
  • Construction consultancy experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering
