Overview In this role you will guide Amazon Payments AI initiatives and mentor a team of applied scientists. You'll partner with engineering leaders to deploy ML and GenAI-powered Payments services at scale. You set research direction, build roadmaps, and translate ideas into production solutions, impacting how developers leverage AI across payments. You will attract and develop top scientists and drive cross-team collaboration to advance Amazon's Payments AI platform.

Responsibilities- Mentor and grow a team of applied scientists; lead recruiting and retention efforts
- Partner with engineering leaders to deliver new Payments services and features powered by ML and GenAI
- Identify research directions and create roadmaps; communicate plans to senior leadership
- Translate research into production systems with engineering teams
- Attract top scientific talent and contribute to a culture of high performance
- Collaborate across teams to leverage heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources
Key requirements- 10+ years in AI and Machine Learning in industry and/or academia
- PhD or MSc in computer science or related fields
- Track record of thought leadership and contributions to the field
